Which Construction Type Creates Which Effect
Every construction type creates a different effect. Front-lit logos deliver presence at a distance, backlit letters gain a calm aura with spatial depth, side-lit cutouts have a subtle glow across the side faces.
Front-Lit
Best for: Exterior façades and shop entrances where a strong presence and bold appearance are wanted.
Typical applications: Vivid, clear signal effect, exceptional long-distance visibility and maximum legibility, even in fog, at dusk or against strong ambient lighting.
Why front-lit: The LED light exits through the front face of the acrylic body and reaches the viewer's eye directly, with nothing in between. Sharp contours and good legibility even from a distance. With the LEDs switched on, the corporate colours on the side faces remain only faintly visible.
Side-Lit
Best for: Modern logos and wordmarks indoors or outdoors, where an elegant, layered and visually interesting aesthetic is preferred over raw, glaring brightness.
Typical applications: A three-dimensional, contemporary glow effect. The letters appear visually deeper and stand out from the background with real physical presence.
Why side-lit: The LED light exits through the side faces of the acrylic body and wraps the letters in a soft, diffuse corona. A refined sense of depth and a glare-free aesthetic, particularly at close range.
Backlit (Halo)
Best for: Expressive without being loud. The soft ring of light (corona effect) creates an indirect, calming aura. The letters or elements stay exceptionally clear and legible thanks to the strong contrast against the surface behind them.
Typical applications: A refined, understated and highly elegant atmosphere. A premium impression that never comes across as loud or overtly promotional.
Why backlit: Backlit signage uses the wall as a reflector. The light never hits the eye directly, so the letter itself reads as a darker or coloured silhouette in front of a soft halo. The result is completely glare-free and registers to the human eye as instantly more refined.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my white logo look bluish at 6500 K?
At 6500 K, the light spectrum contains a very high proportion of short-wave blue light. The human eye adapts quickly and reads it as white when it's the only light source in the room, but under certain conditions its underlying blue cast becomes visible.
Does the wall colour affect how the light looks?
With backlit and side-lit signage, considerably. The light hits the surface behind and picks up its colour along the way. Dark walls produce the strongest contrast, while light walls scatter the light more softly.
Are the LEDs dimmable?
Yes. You can order a dimmer along with your sign. It lets you adjust the brightness continuously, for example dimmed for the evening and full brightness during the day. The light colour stays the same throughout.
What's the difference between warm, natural, daylight and cool white?
All four are shades of white. They differ in colour temperature and therefore in the mood they create. Warm white (2700 K) has a golden-yellow glow and feels inviting and intimate. Natural white (4000 K) is a friendly neutral white with a slightly warm undertone, balanced and professional. Daylight white (5000 K) comes closest to natural daylight, looks objective and renders colours most accurately. Cool white (6500 K) is the coolest and brightest of the four, with a slight blue cast and a technical feel.
The lower the Kelvin value, the warmer the light. The higher it goes, the cooler and more intense it appears.

Ganz tolles Unternehmen. Wir haben ein Logo für unsere Bäckerei dort bestellt, da wir etwas Modernes, bzw. einen richtigen Hingucker haben wollten. Die Homepage ist zum bestellen klasse, man sieht direkt wie es auf der Wand aussieht. Die Ware kam gut verpackt an. 5 Sterne und das mehr als zu Recht. Der Kundenservice war richtig gut, ich wurde wenige Minuten nach meiner Bestellung telefonisch wegen einiger Rückfragen zu meiner Vorlagedatei kontaktiert. Die Schablone wurde dann schneller geliefert als angekündigt. Der erste Test des Stencils war viel besser als ich es bei dem filigranen Motiv erwartet hätte. Alles in allem einfach TOP. Das wird sicherlich nicht die letzte Schablone sein die ich bei Stencil Mafia bestelle. Vielen Dank für den guten Service und die professionelle Umsetzung. Nachtrag: Auch nach mehrfacher Benutzung ein 1a Ergebnis auf Holz.
